Yale wrestling team is the nation’s oldest collegiate wrestling team. We are proud to count notable alumni such as William Howard Taft, class of 1878 and 27th President of the U.S., and George Stuart Dole, class of 1906 and Yale’s first collegiate gold medalist with a win in Men’s Featherweight Class Freestyle Wrestling at the 1908 London Olympics.

Our team is co-ed, although typically men have been in the overwhelming majority. Our roster varies year to year, but we are currently 22 wrestlers strong. Graduate students are welcomed. Practices are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 5-6 PM as well as Sunday 4-6 PM.

We typically compete in 1-2 home matches, 4-6 away matches, regionals, and nationals, and our season spans December through March. We’re a highly competitive team, winning Connecticut state duals last year and qualifying five wrestlers for nationals.
