Water Polo (women’s)

The Yale Women’s Water Polo Team is a competitive club sport that accepts players of all skill levels, from individuals with no previous experience in the pool to former Division 1 athletes. We teach the game of water polo to new players every year, while also offering the opportunity for experienced players to grow in the sport. Typically, the team has a roster of 20 players each year, but we do not hold cuts and all are welcome to join. Both graduate students and undergraduates may participate in practices and competition.

As a team, Yale Women’s Water Polo practices 3-5 times per week in the Kiputh Exhibition Pool in the basement of Payne Whitney Gymnasium during our primary season, which stretches from November-April. Additionally, we hold an annual training trip during Spring Break. We compete in 3 league tournaments each year between the months of February and April in the CWPA North Atlantic Division, and the team has the opportunity to qualify for Club Nationals if we win the division. We also have a host of alumni coaches and a dedicated undergraduate/graduate student leadership team who run practices and provide excellent coaching during tournaments.
